Facilitator / Counsellor

Kapiti Living Without Violence is looking for a Counsellor or Social Worker to join our small friendly team to deliver our Ministry of Justice, Department of Corrections and Ministry of Social Development non-violence programs / counselling.

Overview

The position is for 35 hours per week with a salary between $35-38 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer flexible working hours/arrangements.

Essential requirements for the position

  • A tertiary qualification in counselling or social work.
  • Has not experienced or perpetrated violence in the last 3 years
  • Has knowledge and understanding of how family violence impacts on victims, especially, psychologically and physiologically
  • Can assess the risks and lethality inherently present in family violence and can manage these situations in a way that keeps whānau safe
  • Can work with both male and females
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and can apply those principles to their work
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills
  • Experience in the specialised field of family violence
  • Has an understanding of all the orders associated with family violence, i.e. Protection Orders, Parenting Orders and Police Safety Orders, etc.
  • Can deliver individual assessment and both individual and group programs
